| FAQ: THE SITE |
 |
How and when did the site come about?
In 2003, a woman looked into the night sky and was enchanted by the stars. Her mind opened to
the possibility for greatness and the first concept for Elda Nórë was born. The
site—originally called The Elven Lands—came into existence as a place for
any and all wandering souls to share their creativity, whatever the medium. For the first three
years the site continued to grow and expand its horizons, and soon became home to a small
gathering of members who published their works in the Elves of Camelot magazine. However, a
pestilence—not the dragon—had come upon The Elven Lands which could not
be reversed or forgotten. In 2006, the Elda Nórë site and the Elves of Camelot
magazine were shut down for restructuring and transference.
In late 2006, the entire site was transferred to the Supreme Enchantress Tinúviel, a very
dear friend of Namíra Rahin. Tinúviel had a vision of recapturing the core ethics
and values of the site while developing the content and culture to encapture a greater audience.
To help create a more significant cultural depth, the site now offers
the four gateways,
guide books,
member pages, an
adopted language—which is built and refined
by the members onsite—and the name of the site was changed to The Misty Realms,
which were the very first words of the adopted language Samashk’Ajir.
Namíra Rahin is still an avid member of the site, but has recently moved her work in
another direction. Today she is a web developer for the second largest online food and
entertaining website, a writer working to finalize and publish her first book, and a dreamer
who looks forward to the day she can wake up, look out her window, and see her horses grazing
against a mountainous backdrop.
What does Elda Nórë mean?
Originally the name was taken from Quenya, one of J.R.R. Tolkien’s elvish languages. A
literal translation would be ‘Elf Land’. [elda ~ adj. ‘of the stars’,
so Elda ~ n. one of the people of the Stars, or a high-elf, nórë ~ n. ‘land’
(associated with a particular people, race or clan)] But, as described above, it was altered
to become Elda Nórë - The Misty Realms or literally “Land of Mist”
[elda ~ n. ‘land/realm’ (pl. eldath), nórë ~ adj./n. ‘mist’
(pl. nórëth)] Thus was the beginnings of the Language of Light
(Samashk’Ajir)—the adopted language of The Misty Realms.
What is the purpose of the site?
Elda Nórë is a place where people can express their creativity, gain inspiration
from each other, discuss projects, share their work and receive constructive feedback.
What are the site rules and regulations?
All rules and guidelines are written in the
Guide Books and related
Creeds.

however, please display them in preferential order, i.e. the guild you have most affinity for
appears first. Please display your guild banners in a horizontal line (not vertical) and
please use no more than three banners. Code for the

What are Member Pages?
Member pages are specially designed web pages that contain information about the authors and
artists on this site, samples of their work and the philosophies behind it, and what inspires
them.
How do I get my own Member Page?
Making your own member page.
I have images for my Member Page, but I have no way to edit them. What do I do?
Our administrators have image editing software to size your image to fit our template. Feel
free to send your images along, and we can size them for you.
I have spelling mistakes in my text, but I don’t want it edited without my approval. What do I do?
Firstly, before submitting your information for a Member Page, add your personal text into a
word document and fix the mistakes that are present. The administrators are not your personal
editors. If we feel you have not put enough effort into correcting your own grammatical
mistakes, your work will be sent back. However, if there are a few mistakes we happen to
catch, we can notify you of our intended changes for your approval.
