In
the dark an Elf awoke. As consciousness began her eyes opened. Yet
before there was light to see by she heard words in an ancient and
beautiful language. The words filled her heart with wonder and
though she knew not their meaning, to her soul they spoke her
destiny. Slowly the world around her grew brighter and
substantial. She discovered others who had heard the ancient words
and were likewise touched by their divine power. At this time she
received her first name, Nulómiel. Friendship with these other
beings took her on journeys to many places; she was known in the
regions of Tuckborough, Lossanarch, and Eldalondë where she
dwelt.
Along the pathways of her journeys she came to know the three
fair ladies of The Misty Realms (they who had entered
through the East, West and South gates) and delighted in their
company.
And so she finally travelled to the Inner Lands and took a new
name: Tinúviel—the Nightingale, Enchantress of the
Evening.
The three ladies welcomed their friend and doted upon her three
fair gifts—a sword of honor (forged in the magic of the ancient
languages), a book of truth (upon which are remembered the histories
of The Misty Realms), and the love of an animal companion.
